ONCE UPON A TIME, there was this little girl, who was very little if compared to the towering adults, but not very little if compared to her peers. One day, she was in the woods for a SHORT walk, when all of a sudden, she hears a clear, twinkling sound, almost as if there were gazillion of wind chimes ringing one after another. Being the curious little girl she was, she sprinted towards the sound, and pushed her way through the bushes. The thorns in the bushes pricked her, but still, she continued advancing. Finally, after some time, she found the source of the melodious sound she heard. It was...a fast-flowing river! Now, the little girl had always lived her life in the boundary which was officially stamped 'SAFE', so she had never seen the river, or any bodies of water, for that matter, except maybe, her bathtub. So now, for her to HEAR and SEE the river, it was quite an experience. The water was flowing very fast, glistening in the mid-day sun like tiny little crystal balls. They were so pretty, these crystal balls of light, dancing around, and the little girl was mesmerised. But what was more amazing was what was on the other side of the bank-- a long, winding road, just barely covered by the trees. The little girl was curious of the road. It looked just a TINSY-BIT forbiddening, but that was what perked the little girl's interest."I know, i'll step on those tiny little stones!" she thought happily as she proceeded with her plan to get across. One step at a time, as carefully as possible, she tiptoed across. Then, halfway there, she stopped and looked around. She couldnt help smiling, feeling as if she was walking on the little crystal balls. It was so beautiful. Yet, turning around, she looked back at the woods where she came from. Did she really want to leave it? But then again, she could always go back right? Then, quite suddenly, the stone she was stepping on, broke, and she let out a piercing scream as she fell into the river. She never knew that the beautiful river could be so powerful, so.. dangerous. "HElp me!" she shouted and shouted, but no one heard her cries. Faster and faster, she was carried by the river, barely able to breathe. No one knew what happened to that little girl. Maybe she drowned, or maybe somehow, she got to the other side of the river. No one really bothered, actually. Because in the first place, there was NO ONE. No one to catch her, no one to save her, no one to watch her. But even if there was someone there, was it possible that she could have been rescued? Would she have wanted to be rescued and be forced to return to her part of the woods? Would the little girl have been happier? She could step back, or step forward. Was moving on a wrong decision? Then again, was the hesistation 1/2 wrong? Could she truly leave everything behind, everything being the only thing she had held on and loved for so long. The disappearance of the girl. A tragedy? A relief? It was all a matter of perspective. The End.
